Digital Sandbox Delivers Web-Based Homeland Security Risk Management Course for FEMA, First of Three Courses in FEMA’s National Risk Management Training Program
Oct 01 2009
FEMA has launched an advanced web-based training course designed to provide an overview of risk management and risk analysis strategies relevant to U.S. homeland security interests. Digital Sandbox, Inc., a leading provider of advanced risk-management software and analysis services, was a key partner in developing the training concept and materials. The first course has been designated AWR-129-R, Introduction to Homeland Security Risk Management.
“AWR-129-R is a free, two-hour, web-based course that gives authorities at the State and local level a clear introduction to risk analysis and risk management in the context of homeland security,” said Digital Sandbox co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Bryan S. Ware. “We consider it a privilege to have played a part in creating this training curriculum, which will ultimately increase understanding of risk management realities.”
The course is now available via FEMA’s online risk-management course platform – http://www.learnaboutrisk.com. According to Ware, homeland security risk management is a young discipline. “The NRMT program seeks to establish a common framework for risk management terms, concepts and activities,” he added. “This training represents a major step forward in building this framework.”
Digital Sandbox has also helped develop the remaining two NRMT Program courses. The second, Intermediate Concepts in Homeland Security Risk Management, is scheduled for release in the spring of 2010.
